Saturday and/or Sunday Drop-In 

Master-Level Classes Start Soon

We're currently between terms in our elite Yoga Teacher Training Program (see further below or click on the poster on the left). 

To put our Yoga Hall to good use in Teacher Training times between terms, from mid January to mid February, core members of the Teacher Training Faculty will teach special drop-in Master-Level Classes on a rotating basis on Saturdays or Sunday afternoons (times and days vary) that focus on some of their favorite yoga topics. 

Want to spend 2 1/2 hours on a Saturday or Sunday with Anirudh Shastri learning how to practice (or teach) the three basic Ashtanga sequences, or with Lewis Jackson - a Master of Inversions - standing on your head? Or with Cora Wen - a world authority and regular Yoga Journal contributor  - exploring the art of yoga therapeutics? Here's your chance!

Louis Jackson's Master Level Inversion Class will be one of the first in the series. We just scheduled it for Saturday, January 22nd, from 1 - 3:30 pm (full details soon to be announced).

The topics of other Master Level classes - which we anticipate will begin one week before Louis' session - will be announced in the next two weeks. Classes will be led by core Teacher Training Faculty Members Cora Wen, Kelly McGonigal, Ph.D., Anirudh Shastri, Chrissy Graham, and other Faculty still to be determined.

Check out before then Louis' brilliant Monday night, Friday morning, and Sunday night classes, aimed depending on the class at everyone from complete beginners to the most advanced yogis. Exact times are listed on Avalon's schedule.

2011 Teacher Training Program Is Open!

Avalon's elite 200-hour Yoga Teachers Training Program is nationally recognized and grows in prestige every year.

The Fall 2010 Class just graduated this past December 12th, and we're now preparing for our Winter-Summer 2011 term, which will run from 18 February to 17 July 2011. 

The Program's expanded curriculum includes new regionally and globally known teachers, significantly more in-class training hours, new modules on the business and teaching sides of yoga, and major revisions in the course schedule. 

We've extended the course for the first time from 3 1/2 to 5 months - now on an all Saturday and Sunday class schedule - to make the Training Program as student-friendly as possible for those in the working world.

The Program is open to anyone who has at least two years of yoga practice. Ideal candidates not only include those who want to teach professionally, but all serious students as well who just want to deepen their personal practice or expand their understanding of the vast world of yoga traditions. 

Tuition for the first time includes free yoga in all regular Avalon  classes over the term to encourage students to explore that world more fully. (Existing class packages and annual memberships will be suspended during the term and will start again after it ends, so no classes students have previously paid for will be lost.)

We expect more applicants than enrollment openings, and early registration is strongly advised. A time payment plan is available as well as a substantial discount for full early registration.
