Meissner Automotive has been in Palo Alto, since 1962 and is owned and operated by Gary Meissner. By constantly learning more about diagnostic techniques, Gary has been able to create a niche for himself, making Meissner Automotive one of the leading diagnostics shops in the Bay Area. His son Kurt, 29, is his right-hand man and shop manager and has worked there since 1988.

Importance of Ongoing Education
For ongoing training, Meissner Automotive, offers his employees classes offered by his parts distributors, dealer network seminars, and De Anza College in Cupertino, which offers auto diagnostics classes in the evenings.

"When it comes to diagnostics, I'm a big believer in constantly teaching and cross-training my techs," Meissner said. "Making sure they know as much as I do about diagnostics is one of the main reasons why we're so good at it. I've got two great techs who do all of the diagnostics here, and they've proven over the years that they know what they're doing."
